Private Party Transfers
Do we do them? Absolutely!
So here's the disclaimers;
The transfer fee is preferred to be paid in Cash or Debit. Credit Cards will lose the 3% cash discount. Checks are never accepted.
*NOTE*
If you have more than seven (7) firearms to transfer at one time you will need to make an appointment. Appointments are Wed-Fri at 10:30am. Appointments are booked on a first come, first serve basis and cost $31, which will apply to your transfer fees. This deposit is non refundable. If you are more than ten minutes late we will cancel your appointment and your deposit will NOT be refunded to you. Private transfers are very time consuming and having extra staff here early to accommodate you is not free, so we ask that you respect our time and show up prepared and on time.
*Firearms MUST be picked up within two (2) weeks or you will accrue storage fees at a rate of $1 per day until the background check expires (30 days after it is initiated). After 90 days of no contact the firearm(s) will belong to Springs Armory with no payment due to the customer. By initiating a background check with Springs Armory you are agreeing to these terms.
So here's the disclaimers;
- The transfer can only be done in the store and both parties as well as the firearm being transferred must be present.
- A background check must be performed on the buyer, so the buyer must bring a *valid copy of buyer's DL with current address.
- On November 27th, 2024, the state of Colorado ruled that ALL persons must be at least 21 years of age to purchase/receive transfer of ANY type of firearm.
- The seller of the firearm should also bring a current Government issued ID along with any paperwork etc that they have related to the firearm being transferred.
- The firearm being transferred must be present at the time of transfer and is required to remain at our facility during the background check period (mandatory 3 day delay).
- If the firearm includes a standard capacity magazine over 15 rounds, it will be necessary to make it Colorado compliant. A standard capacity magazine over 15 rounds will incur an additional fee of $2-$8 per magazine on top of our standard Private Party transfer fee.
- The Firearm must be a firearm that can legally be transferred in the state of Colorado. *Must be a rifle, handgun, receiver, or shotgun (NFA items such as SBR's, SBS's, and silencers follow a far different process for transferring)
- The seller can only transfer a firearm that legally belongs to them.
- *PLEASE NOTE* All firearm background checks are subject to a mandatory 3 day delay as required by Colorado law (HB23-1219). If the buyer does not pass a background check, the seller is legally required to complete. pass a background check, wait 3 days and pay the applicable fees before the firearm can be returned to them.
