Private Party Transfers
Do we do them? Absolutely!
So here's the disclaimers;
The transfer fee is preferred to be paid in Cash or Debit. Credit Cards will lose the 3% cash discount. Checks are never accepted.
So here's the disclaimers;
- The transfer can only be done in the store and both parties as well as the firearm being transferred must be present.
- A background check must be performed on the buyer, so the buyer must bring a *valid copy of buyer's DL with current address.
- The seller of the firearm should also bring a current Government issued ID along with any paperwork etc that they have related to the firearm being transferred.
- The firearm being transferred must be present at the time of transfer.
- The Firearm must be a firearm that can legally be transferred in the state of Colorado. *Must be a rifle, handgun, receiver, or shotgun (NFA items such as SBR's, SBS's, and silencers follow a far different process for transferring)
- The purchaser must be of legal age to own the firearm. (i.e. must be at least 21 years of age to purchase a handgun or stripped lower receiver or 18 years of age for all other firearms.)
- The seller can only transfer a firearm that legally belongs to them.
- If background check takes longer that 24hrs and the buyer fails, the seller will have to do a background check to pick up the firearm since it was in store overnight.
- *PLEASE NOTE* As of October 1st, 2023 All background checks for firearms will be put into a 3 DAY DELAY (Thank your local government for that lovely change). This will require that ALL private party transferers will have to leave the firearm at our facility, which means if the buyer (person taking posession of the firearm) fails the background check, the seller (transferer) will be legally required to pay for and pass a background check for the firearm to be released back to the seller.
