Before You Sell or Send
Before sending your firearm out-of-state ask yourself the following question: is this firearm, along with its accessories, legal in the state of the recipient? Right now, Colorado Law dictates that it is illegal for you to transfer a high-capacity magazine. High-capacity is defined as a magazine that holds more than 15 rounds; for example, an unmodified 9mm Springfield XDM magazine can hold 19 rounds, so this magazine cannot be sold in the state of Colorado and some firearms dealers will not ship these items to Colorado as a result. Other states have different laws regarding similar things. We recommend doing research on the state's laws for wherever the firearm is going to confirm the sale will be legal.
An FFL Transfer
An FFL (Federal Firearms License) Transfer is performed when you purchase a firearm through a third party (Armslist, Gunbroker, Buds Gun Shop, Cheaper than Dirt, etc.) or from a private individual. Depending on the state, it is almost always required that the buyer does a background check in order to take possession of the firearm. As a result, when you sell a firearm to someone out of state, the law requires it to be shipped to an FFL.
What You Will Need When You Come In
If you have any other questions, please give us a call! We would be more than happy to help!

What You Will Need When You Come In
- A copy of the FFL it is going to be shipped to (THIS WILL BE NEEDED NLT DAY BEFORE YOUR SHIPPING APPT OR YOU WILL BE RESCHEDULED)
- We recommend having the recipient find a place in their home state close to them that can receive FFL transfers. Once they have a place in mind, in order to even start the shipping Springs Armory will need an actual copy of their FFL. We ask that it is emailed (from the FFL, sender, or recipient) to [email protected]. We can print it out, no problem!
- The firearm(s)
- You do not have to provide a case or a box to send it in if you do not want to. We get plenty of shipments with a lot of boxes every day so we can provide that if needed. If you do bring a box, we ask that you do not pack the firearm into it before bringing it in as we are required to get information off the firearm(s) and will have to take it out anyways.
- Keep in mind, ammunition cannot ship with the firearm.
- Your Driver License
- We need to bring the firearm(s) into our system so that we can send it out and in order to intake it, we must have the information of the person that brought it in.
- Money for the fees and shipping
- Our shipping fee is $30 for the first firearm and $15 per every additional firearm that is going to the same person, at the same place, in the same box on the same transaction. And we will also charge the cost of actual shipping.
- For shipping, we go through UPS. They calculate cost by the dimensions, weight, and zip code for where the package is going. This is one of the reasons it is extremely hard to give an estimate cost. It all entirely depends.
- Keep in mind, shipping a handgun tends to be more expensive as handguns are required to ship 2nd day air (or faster) versus long guns that can go ground.
