Springs Armory is proud to have a Powered By Silencer Shop Kiosk in the store to make your NFA Silencer purchase fast and easy!
Many people not familiar with NFA (National Firearms Act) items mistakenly believe that perhaps owning a silencer is illegal or requires a special license. This is simply not true. Colorado is one of the many states where suppressor ownership is legal. The only thing different that purchasing a firearm is that an NFA item, in this case a silencer, must be registered with the federal government and a $200 tax stamp purchased for it.
The first step in purchasing a silencer is to decide how you want to register it with the federal government. There are two methods by which one can register an NFA item. This first is an individual registration and the second is registration within a trust. There are advantages and disadvantages to both.

- In the event of a death to someone on the trust, other trustees can legally take possession of the NFA items on the trust without any additional paperwork
- Anyone listed as a trustee in the trust can be in possession of the suppressor
- The same trust can be used for all future NFA items
Trust NFA Registration Disadvantages
- Initial work to setup the trust is required. Most folks hire a trust lawyer who creates trusts. We recommend silencershop.com for simplicity.
- Every responsible person on the trust will need to be fingerprinted and photographed.
Individual NFA Registration Advantages
- No need to have multiple people fingerprinted (as on a trust) so the filing process is faster
Individual NFA Registration Disadvantages
- Only you can be in possession of the suppressor (while other people can still use they can only do so under your direct supervision)
